Balkan endemic forests of Pinus heldreichii or Pinus peuce, restricted to the southern Balkans, Northern Greece and Southern Italy. Accompaning species are Picea abies, Pinus sylvestris, Pinus mugo with understory including Juniperus sibirica, Vaccinium myrtillus, Calamagrostis arundinacea, Brachypodium pinnatum, Luzula luzuloides, Luzula sylvatica, Geranium macrorhizum.
