Informe provisional del seguimiento de la mortalidad de vertebrados en las carreteras de Castellón.

The study was carried out during several years, but only data form 1991 were used in this paper for vertebrates other than birds. Bird casualties had a peak during october and november due to the arrival of wintering birds. The author gives details on seasonal distribution of casualties. Casualties in local roads with high traffic are as high as in national roads. Relative frequencies of vertebrate deaths in 1991 were: birds (41%), amphibians (29%), mammals (21%), and reptiles (9%).

El estudio se llevó a cabo durante varios años, pero para los vertebrados que no sean aves solamente se han utilizado datos desde 1991 en este artículo. Los atropellos de aves tuvieron un máximo durante el mes de octubre y noviembre debido a la llegada de las aves invernantes. El autor facilita detalles sobre la distribución estacional de los atropellos. Los atropellos en las carreteras locales con una elevada intensidad de tráfico son altas como en las carreteras nacionales. Las frecuencias relativas de las mortalidades de los vertebrados en 1991 fueron: aves (41%), anfibios (29%), mamíferos (21%) y reptiles (9%).
